Update 2024 for H&C Paver Sealer Gloss Review

H&C Paver Sealer Gloss has shown poor results in our testing. See the review below for more info. If you have any questions or have used the H&C Paver Sealer Gloss, please ask below in our Q&A area. We are here to help!

H&C Paver Sealer Gloss is a premium quality sealer that protects pavers and prolongs the natural beauty only pavers can bring to an outdoor living area.  This product applies milky white and dries clear to ensure complete coverage, and is extremely easy to apply.  It provides excellent weather resistance while protecting the investment against water damage.  It is solvent-free and VOC compliant, water-based.

Tested on Brick Paver Pool Deck – 2 coats applied.

H&C Paver Sealer Gloss Scores (1-10)

Wet Look: 3

– We applied this sealer to a 6-month-old brick paver patio around a pool. We had hoped to achieve a darkened enhanced look to the pavers. The sealer did very little to change the appearance.

Gloss Level: 6

– For a water-based sealer, the H&C Paver Sealer did fairly well when it came to adding gloss shine. After applying 2 coats, we achieved a decent semi-gloss look.

Joint Sand Hardening: 8

– The H&C Paver Sealer performed well, hardening the paver sand down to the foundation. After 2 years the sand had little loss or erosion, even around the pool edge.

Fading/Wearing After 2 Years: 5

– H&C Paver Sealer faded significantly after 2 years. Most of the gloss was completely gone and the sealer had started to blush.

White Haze/Yellowing: 3

– The H&C Paver Sealer fared poorly in this area. The sealer had turned white on all exposed areas except around the pool edges. We suspect the sealer had eroded away in this area from the pool chlorine.

Overall Score H&C Paver Sealer Gloss at 2 Year Period: 5

– Due to the white blushing, H&C Paver Sealer will need to be chemically stripped prior to reapplication. This is a big problem when it comes to future maintenance. We cannot recommend any sealers that are prone to turning white.

Overall this is a poor sealer for brick pavers.

Why am I getting tire marks on my driveway after applying H & C Ultra power water based paver sealer on my pavers and waiting for it to dry. I keep washing off tire marks and every time I park in driveway they come back.

Plasticizers in your tires are leaving the deposits on top of the coating. Thank goodness you can wash them off.

We have two estimates to have our pool pavers sealed. One contractor said he uses Black Diamond to seal and will seal with two coats. (our pavers have never been sealed). The other contractor said he uses Silacast. Which sealer is the best. We are in Florida and are having mold issues with our pavers.

SW recommended this product and we had it applied to our beautiful patio pavers….Not only did it turn into a white ‘filmy’ mess, it did not seal in the sand applied into the joints. A few days after application we looked at our patio and were so sad to find that all the hard work (and money) we paid to improve it, did not work at all. Completely dissatisfied with this product and we are now told we have to remove it with chemical stripping solvent and start all over! Photos attached to show the mess we are dealing with… Read more »

Can I apply a water based sealant directly on a solvent based sealant?

Total garbage. High foaming when rolled. It flashes/glazes as well resulting in white patches after the first rain. The Sherwin Williams guy pushed this for sealing flagstone, and now$1,200 worth of work looks like a turd.

Can anyone tell me if using this product will affect the drainage of the patio?
My patio is flat – has no grade, so if the water can't penetrate the gaps im concerned it will affect my foundations.
