SuperSeal-M Concrete Water Repellent Review
SuperSeal-M is a penetrating silane/siloxane water repellent designed to protect concrete and masonry surfaces from water intrusion without changing the appearance.
Unlike acrylic sealers that sit on the surface and create a gloss, SuperSeal-M soaks into the concrete, forming a hydrophobic barrier that helps reduce water absorption, freeze-thaw damage, and long-term deterioration.
This type of sealer is all about protection—not appearance.
SuperSeal-M Quick Verdict
SuperSeal-M is a high-quality penetrating sealer that offers long-lasting water repellency with a completely natural, invisible finish.
- Best for: Concrete, brick, pavers, masonry
- Finish: Natural / no gloss
- Type: Silane/Siloxane penetrating sealer
- Longevity: 5–10+ years
It is ideal when you want protection without altering the look of the surface.
SuperSeal-M Product Description
SUPER SEAL-M is a water-based Silicone Water Repellent made of a unique hybrid of Silane and Siloxane. It provides water repellency to porous construction materials such as bricks, stone, concrete blocks, mortar, and grout. However, it is not suitable for very low-porosity substrates such as polished stone.
The active ingredients in the SUPER SEAL-M Water Repellent Sealer are a mixture of different-sized particles, some larger and some smaller, to fill different-sized voids. This ensures good penetration into porous substrates, resulting in good coverage and durable water repellency. The active ingredients in SUPER SEAL-M Water Repellent can chemically react with the substrate, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Concrete Sealer Ingredients: Blend of Silanes and Siloxanes
Concrete Sealer Type: Penetrating Clear Water Repellent
My SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent Scores (1-10)
Ease of Application: 10
I applied the SuperSeal M to a new concrete driveway the day after installation. SuperSeal explicitly states that the sealer can be applied to new concrete as soon as the beaded water is gone from the installation. We used 5 gallons for the 1000 sq. feet. It took 30 minutes to apply, and I did not have any issues.
Water Repellency: 8
After three days, I tested the water beading with the garden hose. All of the water beaded up on the driveway with a light mist. A heavier saturation, and the water still did not penetrate the concrete.
Cost per foot: 10
I bought a 5-gallon pail of the SuperSeal M from our local store for $200. We only needed 5 gallons to cover the entire driveway, which comes to $.15 a sq. foot.
Durability/Spalling After 2 Years: 8
After two years, the new concrete driveway showed very little wear and tear. Water still beaded up on the surface, and no spalling or chipping of the surface was prevalent.
Warranty: 7
– This product comes with a 5-year warranty.
My Overall Score SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent: 8.6
What I liked best about the sealer was the ease of application and the cost per sq. foot. The water repellency was also above average. If you are looking for a high-quality concrete and masonry sealer that is fairly inexpensive, then the SuperSeal-M would be a great choice.
*Very easy to apply, low cost, durable.

Where SuperSeal-M Works Best
SuperSeal-M performs best on:
- Concrete driveways and sidewalks
- Brick and masonry walls
- Concrete pavers
- Vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces
- Areas exposed to weather and moisture
It is ideal for long-term structural protection, especially in freeze-thaw climates.
Where SuperSeal-M Does NOT Perform Well
Avoid using SuperSeal-M when:
- You want a wet look or color enhancement
- You are looking for a decorative finish
- The surface is already sealed with a film-forming coating
Application Tips (Critical for Performance)
Penetrating sealers rely on proper absorption.
Before applying:
- Clean the surface thoroughly
- Remove any existing sealers or coatings
- Allow the surface to fully dry
Application tips:
- Apply evenly using a sprayer or roller
- Allow the product to soak into the surface
- Do not overapply to the point of puddling
- Apply in proper temperature and dry conditions
Durability and Maintenance
SuperSeal-M is designed for long-term protection with minimal maintenance.
- Expect 5–10+ years of performance
- Reapplication is rarely needed if applied properly
- Performance gradually diminishes rather than failing suddenly
- No peeling or flaking since it does not form a surface film
Common Issues with SuperSeal-M
Issues are uncommon but may include:
- Reduced effectiveness if surface is not properly cleaned
- Poor penetration on dense or previously sealed surfaces
Most problems are due to improper prep, not the product itself.
SuperSeal-M vs Acrylic Sealers
Compared to acrylic sealers like SuperSeal25 or SuperSeal30:
- No gloss or color enhancement
- Much longer lifespan
- No peeling or flaking
- Better for water protection
- Does not protect against surface wear
This is a completely different category of sealer focused on protection rather than appearance.

I have used this on several jobs in eastern Iowa and it seems to hold up very well in the tough winter months with all the ice, snow, salt, and sand. I definitely recommend!
Hi. Is Super Seal M or Masonry Saver effective on foundation cracks in a Midwest (cold winters, humid summers) home?
SuperSeal-M is a penetrating sealant; it cannot fill cracks. Actually, no sealer will fill cracks.
How do foundation restoration companies solve crack issues?
Sorry, but no idea.
I live in se Florida and want to protect and bring back the colors of my faded concrete pavers. I used GhostShield Siloxa-Tek 8505 5 years ago and they are still badly faded. I would prefer a penetrating sealer with a natural finish that can bring back their color. Thank you!
You would want this: https://www.concretesealerreview.com/supreme-shield-sb-600-wet-look-concrete-sealer/
Will a roller work as good as a sprayer?
It should be sprayed, not rolled.
Also, does supreme-shield sb-600 need to be stripped before reapplying when it comes time for reseal?
Can you paint over this sealer? Looking to apply this on my concrete patio but also want a different color. Thanks!
No, as it will repel the paint from adhering.
Does the super M sealant dry in a matte finish? Also, is it good for square concrete steps? The steps are brushed with a slight texture. However, they are close to a pool so I did not want them to be slick.
It has not shine or wet look. Basically, it looks the same after it dries as before application, but adds water repellency
Would this be good to apply on my concrete walking squares near my pool? They are brush finished. So have a little texture. I was concerned about being slippery?
Also, would you suggest using a pump style spray application or a foam roller application?
Thank you.
As long as the blocks are porous, it should work without issues. Spraying on is much easier.
Scott, I ordered a gallon. How much area will that cover? How many coats should I apply? I was thinking one thin coat per day? For 2 or 3 coats? Or is that excessive? I was going to use a small manual pump sprayer
200 sq feet per gallon. Only one coat. More is not better.
Many thanks.

I have a 2000 sq ft concrete driveway with a basketball key (just the lines) and 3 point line pained onto the surface. The driveway has never been sealed and I would like to find a product to seal the entire surface (bare concrete plus the painted lines). Freeze/thaw protection is important as well salt damage. After sealing, I would prefer the concrete has a natural look (no shine/gloss). What would you recommend for this situation? Thanks!
You cannot apply a penetrating sealer, such as SuperSeal-M (which provides a natural look with no shine/gloss), over the painted lines. You could try applying around it.
Best product for a two year-old gray colored pool apron about 1500 ft.²
If plain poured concrete, then use the Super Seal-M Water Repellent.
Hello. I recently had an attached garage built onto my home and I’m having trouble with water coming through the above grade block into my garage when it rains. My home has a full basement with walls that are above and below grade that I’ve never had any moisture issues with as well as an older block garage I’ve never had any issues with so this is all new for me. I’m looking for something clear I can spray or roll on to solve my problem while not changing the appearance of my block. What would be the best product… Read more »
Hello, the Super Seal-M would work for this.
The weather where I’m at this week is supposed to be in the 70s during the day and around 45-46 at night. Would it be okay to put it on during the day. I didn’t know how long it needed to be above 50 after installation.
Thanks
Yes, no issues. It will dry in 1-3 hours.
Can a colorant be added to the super seal-M. I have a very large stamped concrete area around a pool that I need to seal myself. When it was installed 2 years ago they use super seal 30- but it was so slippery- not to mention the fumes were terrible for a DIY.
No, you cannot add color or tints to penetrating sealers like the SS-M. You also cannot apply it over the top of the SS-30, it will not penetrate. It is for bare, unsealed concrete surfaces.
I need to reseal a stained and stamped concrete pool deck. The original sealer is very slick when wet which is a hazard on a pool deck where kids are always running with wet feet. What sealer would you recommend?
Look at Super Seal 25 and add the SuperGrip into it for traction.
Thank you. Will I need to remove the old sealer or just clean it? Also, if I do need to strip the sealer, what should I use that will not also remove the color that was stained onto the concrete?
Hi. We had our concrete driveway put in two years ago. It was originally sealed with DecoCRETE D-Guard WB25. I’d like to start sealing my driveway myself (DIY) to save money. I only need about two gallons of sealant and can only find the D-Guard WB25 in five-gallon drums so am looking for another brand that is compatible with what was already done two years ago. Currently, water no longer beads on most of the driveway so I think it’s time to re-seal. I’ve been doing my research but the choices are overwhelming and I don’t want to choose the… Read more »
The product you used prior was a water based acrylic sealer so you would need the same. SuperSeal-M is a siloxane absed sealer so that would not work. Look at Masonry Saver Stamped Concrete Sealer:

Hi Scott,
What sealer would you recommend to get a wet look on plain concrete (not stamped or stained or exposed aggregate), but to also not create a slippery surface? Thanks!
You cannot use a wet look or gloss sealer on plain outdoor concrete. It will dry very blotchy and uneven. If a garage floor you could use a clear coat epoxy.
Super seal M how long does it take to dry before use? Can self leveling concrete be used over this product?
It dries in 1-2 hours. Sealers probably would repel the self leveling concrete. Use the SS-M after.
I have a brick house that we have lived in for 20 years. It is over 30 yrs old. Do i need to seal the brick? If so, do i need to clean it first? It doesn’t look bad but i am thinking due to age it needs to be sealed to increase longevity and the integrity of the brick. Is this accurate? Please advise. Thank you.
Sealing water repels and protects from rain, etc. If you are concerned about this, then yes, use the SuperSeal-M.
