Update – SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent Review
Based on performance and price, the SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent is one of our top sealers for waterproofing concrete. If you have questions or have used the SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent product, please ask in our Q&A area below. I am here to help!
SUPER SEAL-M is a water-based Silicone Water Repellent made of a unique hybrid of Silane and Siloxane. It provides water repellency to porous construction materials such as bricks, stone, concrete blocks, mortar, and grout. However, it is not suitable for very low-porosity substrates such as polished stone.
The active ingredients in the SUPER SEAL-M Water Repellent Sealer are a mixture of different-sized particles, some larger and some smaller, to fill different-sized voids. This ensures good penetration into porous substrates, resulting in good coverage and durable water repellency. The active ingredients in SUPER SEAL-M Water Repellent can chemically react with the substrate, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Concrete Sealer Ingredients: Blend of Silanes and Siloxanes
Concrete Sealer Type: Penetrating Clear Water Repellent
My SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent Scores (1-10)
Ease of Application: 10
I applied the SuperSeal M to a new concrete driveway the day after installation. SuperSeal explicitly states that the sealer can be applied to new concrete as soon as the beaded water is gone from the installation. We used 5 gallons for the 1000 sq. feet. It took 30 minutes to apply, and I did not have any issues.
Water Repellency: 8
After three days, I tested the water beading with the garden hose. All of the water beaded up on the driveway with a light mist. A heavier saturation, and the water still did not penetrate the concrete.
Cost per foot: 10
I bought a 5-gallon pail of the SuperSeal M from our local store for $200. We only needed 5 gallons to cover the entire driveway, which comes to $.15 a sq. foot.
Durability/Spalling After 2 Years: 8
After two years, the new concrete driveway showed very little wear and tear. Water still beaded up on the surface, and no spalling or chipping of the surface was prevalent.
Warranty: 7
– This product comes with a 5-year warranty.
My Overall Score SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent: 8.6
What I liked best about the sealer was the ease of application and the cost per sq. foot. The water repellency was also above average. If you are looking for a high-quality concrete and masonry sealer that is fairly inexpensive, then the SuperSeal-M would be a great choice.
*Very easy to apply, low cost, durable.

We DO NOT want any kind of glossy look, but our brand new concrete pavers don’t show their colors much at all unless they happen to be wet—very dull, pale, almost whitish in the bright sun. Will SuperSealer M Concrete Water Repellant leave them just as drab as they are now? Is there any color enhancement at all? They are new.
Super Seal-M does not add a shine or enhance the appearance like a wet look. You need a wet look sealer to enhance. You want Supreme Shield SB-600 for an enhanced look.
Can SUPERSEAL M CONCRETE WATER REPELLENT be applied over a concrete stain so raw concrete color can be adjusted?
No, it is not possible to apply a penetrating sealer like this over a concrete stain.
What is the best way to apply roller or spray this is a new barn floor was sealed and cut same day but was hot troweled
You cannot a sealer over a surface that has already been sealed prior. It will not penetrate.
What prep do I need to do on the old (100 yr) brick that has some moisture mold and moss (north side of old building)?
thanks
Pressure wash.
I own a 63 yr old brick home in NW Michigan. Brick was cracking & spalling due to water infiltration & freeze/thaw action. Mason recommended a sealer which was applied 6.5 years ago (product made by Euclid). Spalling has basically stopped but I am thinking I should reapply. Would applying SuperSeal M over a different sealant be problematic? Also, does SuperSeal M allow the brick to breathe? Thank you.
We would need to know what the other sealer was made of to determine if compatible. Most likely okay if the surface is porous. It is breathable.
What product would you suggest to waterproof a concrete laundry room closet that is not designed for tile or other flooring installation? Perhaps the Super Seal M Concrete Water Repellant? Thank you
What is the surface made of?
If snow and ice melt on top of sealed concrete isn’t there more of a chance of the water refreezing on the top since it doesn’t absorb as much? All beading will just turn to ice.
No, it does not turn into an ice rink.
We’ve spilled greasy food on my pavers and was looking to seal them. What would you use to remove the darker grease stains before using SuperSeal M My pavers are 15 yrs old.

I want to buy a five gallon can after use some can I store it to the next time and reuse it
Shelf life is probably a year or two once opened.
Is this ideal for curbing
Sure.
how long should I wait before I seal a new concrete driv
The Super Seal-M is a cure and seal so you can sell it a few days after install.
How long before it dries
A couple of hours is normal.
What’s the best way to apply ss-m roller or spray
Pump sprayer.
Where can I find super sealer M. I live in Niagara Falls N.Y. 14305
Check online for purchase.
I have a covered concrete patio that frequently gets dirty when dogs play in yard and then track it on to the concrete. Is SS M the best sealer to allow me to more easily wash off dirt & mud? I would want to use the same SS M for my concrete driveway…just wanted to know about the ease of washing mud & dirt and the best sealer to use for that. Thanks in advance!
It will seal the surface so washing off mud and dirt is easier as it cannot penetrate deep in the concrete.
I am building a new home and have had 2 leaks from recent hurricanes that appear to be coming from the joint between the concrete slab and the first row of CMU block. What would be the best product to use to treat this joint and repel water intrusion below grade level?
Sealers will not work to prevent water from penetrating large gaps like this. They also do not work to prevent water from seeping out. Sealers only work to prevent water from penetrating in.
You need to fix the issue from the outside. Best to talk to your builder about this issue as it is a foundation problem.
What product do you recommend I consider to fix this issue from the outside?
No idea, we do not build foundations. It is a building or grade issue.
What’s the best Sealer for my 3 foot Stamped Concrete decking walkway around my inground pool. I don’t want it make it Slippery or ruin the Cement. The one on this page is only Rated/ 8.6. What do you recommend ? Please reply.
Only 8.6/10? nothing will be better than that. See this for stamped concrete sealers: https://www.concretesealerreview.com/best-stamped-concrete-sealer/
Thanks for such helpful information. Would the Superseal M work on concrete driveway pavers vs. say the Superseal 25? I do not want any gloss. Again, this is in coastal Florida. Does the Superseal M last longer and need to be recoated less frequently than the Superseal 25?
There is no gloss or wet look with the SS-M. Basically, it does not alter the appearance at all. You can use it on pavers as a water repellent only.
Does the SS-M ever form a white haze on a brick wall?
No, as it is a penetrating sealer.
Hi, I have just redone fieldstone pillars. They will.be exposed to cold /wet weather to -35 degrees. Would also like just a darkening of the stone. It doesn’t have to be shiny. What product is best for sealing.
Wet look sealers do not work very well for large stones like this. They are designed for decorative concrete. Stones like this really do not take sealers. Just leave them as is.
Female here, is superseal M a really good clear sealer for rough red brick. As both front and back of house is battered by highwinds / heavy rain.
Thank you.
Yes, it would work for this.
Best sealer for precast pool coping without changing the look more than needed
Super Seal-M would work very well for this.
Hello! I just filled all the joints/cracks in my concrete driveway with Sikaflex Self Leveling polyurethane Sealant, and now I’d like to put a penetrating waterproofing seal coat. On the Sikaflex, it says not to use silicone based sealers with a high solvent content.
What sealer do you recommend I use for the best results? Thank you in advance for your advice!
Try the Super Seal-M.
HI – my front steps (south facing) leading up to the house absorb the rain causing efflorescence on the aggregate concrete side walk leading up to the front entrance steps. The steps are General Shale Cortez clay brick (16″ step / 2 bricks with 7″ risers). Can I use SuperSeal M Concrete Water Repellent to stop rain from penetrating the clay bricks? I live in middle TN, so sometimes heavy rains. Thank you in advance for your advice.
A sealer will not prevent efflorescence from occurring and rain does not cause efflorescence to occur.
Thank you for your prompt reply. Is the product safe to use on the clay bricks? The bricks do absorb lots of water during the rain. Thank you in advance for your advice.
It should be fine for clay bricks.
is the listed max temperature for application the air temp or the temp of the concrete?
Air temp typically.
Hello,
I have a 5 day old 31X31 concrete pad that I will be using as a car and light metal workshop. From reading the information on your site and the various comments left by others I think your product will meet my needs, but I would like to be sure due to the investment that I’ve made.
Would you mind recommending the appropriate product for me to protect my investment?
Yes, the SS-M will work well for this and can be applied now as it is also a cure and seal.
Thank you for the fast response. I forgot to ask if SS-M protect/holds up to motor oils, and harsh chemicals like brake clean?
It seals the concrete so spills will not penetrate deeply, making the cleanup easier.
will this work on an elevated concrete slab
Yes, it will.
Can the SuperSeal-M be used on aggregate? Looking to use on driveway and on patio.
If not, what sealer can be used on aggregate?
Most people want a wet look and or gloss for exposed aggregate: https://www.concretesealerreview.com/exposed-aggregate-sealers/
Don’t want gloss or wet look. Can the Super-seal M be used for aggregate?
Yes, as long as it has not been sealed prior with a wet look or gloss sealer.
I’ve got a driveway of cement and aggregate that we diamond grinded to look like terrazzo. We like the darkness of it when wet it darkens the cement and brings out the color in the aggregate but we can’t find a sealer to do the same thing on our driveway. What do you recommend?
the images are pre-grinding, after diamond grinding and when wet.
No pics.
Hi
1) Can I use either Superseal M or Masonry Saver on travertine? Which is best?
2) If so, what would be a good product to use to clean the surface before applying the sealer?
3) I have heard that before applying one of these sealers you should wet the surface lightly and apply the sealer just before the water dries. Is this right?
4) Finally, can I assume that either/both of the products mentioned above protect against staining as well as against water?
1. Use SS-M.
2. Just pressure washing unless you have a stain of some sort to remove?
3. No, very bad advice.
4. They protect against potential stains from soaking in so cleaning is easier but it really sends on what the stain is?
Thank you!!
Will SuperSeal M stop the moisture coming through from our chimney in the garage?
it can stop water from penetrating through the bricks but your issue looks like it may be coming through the mortar. A sealer will not work to stop water coming through large cracks in the mortar.
We have a painted brick wall around our in ground swimming pool in Troy Michigan. The wall was painted with a Latex Base DryLok Masonry Waterproofer. I still having delaminating of the brick surface in certain areas. Would an application of Super Seal M to the brick wall help further improve the waterproofing. Thank you in advance for your comments.
Best Regards
Roman Prybula
No, you cannot apply a sealer over a paint.
I would like to epoxy the concrete steps that lead up to the front door of my house. The steps are outside and we have harsh winters in Chicago. What is the best epoxy to buy for this? Would it be slippery once the epoxy has been painted on since it rains and snows here in Chicago. Can I leave the concrete smooth as it is now or should I get the concrete stamped to avoid slip and falls. Does the epoxy have some texture to it so people will not slip and fall. Is the epoxy clear, I would… Read more »
Epoxies really do not work that well for steps and for exterior areas. We would not suggest it.
I’m currently repointing a Colorado brick home from the late 1880’s and the surface of the original brick was so soft and rotten that we resurfaced the entire building prior to repointing.
I plan on using this product to seal the exterior once the tuck pointing is finished.
Is there any reason you would not suggest this product for the purposes of preserving the 130+ year old bricks since the original fired faces have long since deteriorated???
No reason we can think of.
is this sealant good for the coping around a swimming pool?
Yes.
Will super seal M enhance the color of my 25 year old integrated colored stamped concrete driveway there is plenty of color left but it has faded Can it be used on a stamped concrete driveways
No, the SuperSeal-M does not enhance color. You need Super Seal Matte as mentioned prior.
Where can I buy in British Columbia Canada
No idea if sold in stores in Canada. Try buying online.
I’m starting to work more from home and I’m going to pour about 1100sf of concrete in front of my shop. Trying to stop as much grime and grease(oil) from surface as possible. Will this work as one coat or will two coats be better. Thanks.
One coat will be fine.
I need a clear topcoat for a concrete carport and driveway exposed to sunlight in Florida… The carport and driveway was recently finished with two coats of H&C Heavy Shield water based. The second coat has decorative flakes. I want to clear coat over the flakes. Seems that all of Sherwin_Williams clear coat products say “Not Recommended for Driveways”! Needs to withstand sun, rain, hot tires. No change in finish. Can be glossy as long as I can not see roller marks. Thanks!
Use Restore-A-Garage Clear Topcoats for this.
So I can put the 2 part Restore-A-Garage Satin polyurethane topcoat over my water based one part H&C Heavy Shield stain without a problem? It will not react to what I have already? This can be quickly rolled on without bubbles as there is only 30 minute working time? Thanks for your help.
You will have to sand/screen the surface first and then you should be fine. Best to read the directions.
I have a concrete patio (not stamped but flat) that was previously stained with a water base stain and then with a matte seal that showed no sheen. It’s been two years and I want to protect my stain. This time I’d like clear stain that is more of a sheen to it and will better prevent water absorption and mold. It’s not a high traffic area and I’m not worried about traction. I’m struggling to decide on a product. I plan to use a pump sprayer.
Look at Masonry Saver Decorative Concrete Sealer if you want a shine. The Super Seal-M has no shine.
I have already applied the super seal m is there anything to go over this to prevent dust
No, you cannot seal over it as the SuperSeal-M would repel it.
Is there anything I can put on top to prevent dust
You would need a film-forming sealer or epoxy to do this.
Will I still have the concrete dust after sealing? Do u recommend mopping after a week of curing?
This is a penetrating sealer so no, it does not film on top of the surface to lock any potential dusting of the surface.
Can you paint on this sealant?
You cannot ever paint over a sealer as a sealer will repel the paint and create issues with adhesion.
I have a bi level home w bottom level as half basement. The brick at that level is having water/moisture seepage in one room. What do you recommend? Would need for interior brick walls.
It is not possible for a concrete sealer to prevent seepage out of concrete. They only work to prevent water from soaking into a surface, not seeping out.
What is the best sealant to keep mold growth off of my brick sidewalk? I have about a 500sq ft sidewalk that always gets real slippery with mold and mildew growth. Is there anything that would you recommend for that?
As sealer cannot prevent mildew or mold but it can stop water from soaking in and that would help reduce the chance of mildew or mold from occurring. It would also make it easier to clean any off.
Use the Super Seal-M.
Can this be used on Stucco walls
No.
What would be the best product to use to seal a brick chimney? I currently have water intrusion inside with heavy blowing rains. Also live on the water in Fl so it’s exposed to saltwater.
Super Seal M would work well to prevent water from coming through the bricks.
I have some few fine hairline cracks and imperfections in my exterior brick where water is actually coming through and leaking in the house. Will super seal m seal these hairline cracks.
It seals the brick but it cannot fill voids. No penetrating sealer will be able to gill voids of deep cracks.
What do you recommend to fill the cracks?
If the cracks are in the mortar between the bricks then you will need to have the mortar redone to fill the cracks.
Do you think that can be caulked
No.
What do you recommend for repair of mortar
Contact a local contractor to help with this.
Is Super Seal M effective on clay reclaimed brick walkways?
Yes.
