How good of a product is super seal 25? I am looking for a commercial grade not Home Depot. I had a stamped patio installed and they used a solvent based acrylic sealer supposedly they said it was super diamond blade. It scratches real easy and flaked off. Is super seal 25 uv protectant? Is it scratch or flake resistant?
Brian the SS25 is scratch resistant and flake resistant but it will not fix the issue you currently have. You would need to chemically strip off the Diamond Clear first to prevent this from happening again.
I live in Buffalo,NY……lots of snow and ice and I must use a lot of deicer. My stamped concrete was last sealed 2 years ago with super diamond clear. Although when freshly sealed it looks great, it is very slippery when wet and has become hazy. Do you have a suggestion for a compatible sealer and anti skid? We do like the wet look, but would sacrifice some of it for a safer surface. Thanks,
Add "Shark Grip" product to your sealer next time you want to recoat, mix in the sealer with a drill/mixer follow directions, and roll on. Product becomes almost invisible but still the traction, some cast product onto wet sealer, I don't advise it, you can end up with to much in certain areas. Concrete Finisher of over 30 years.
What is the difference between super seal 25 and super seal voc? I live in nj, am I permitted to use the 25? Also should I be adding shark grip to the sealant to keep the surface from getting slippery.

You can add shark grip or super grip. The VOC version is the same as the 25 but complaint for states such as yours in NJ.
I live in Pa. HELP!!! I have a large 24 ft. by 22 ft stamped concrete patio with 2 side walks connected to it also that was poured in 2003. I have sealed it before but not in the last maybe 6 or 7 years. It is sealed with Certi-Vex AC 1315 Acrylic Concrete Curing and sealing compound. You need a solvent based sealer and laws change in PA since your first application. Try the SuperSeal VOC version for PA.

Applied super seal 30 today. About half of the area has bubbles most likely due to application thickness. Will xylene get rid of these bubbles? How do you apply the xylene and what do you do once it is applied?
Apply the xylene with a pump sprayer when the sun is about to go down for the evening to avoid it repeating.

We have stamped patterned concrete around the pool – we have sealed last year.
This spring we have noticed a lot of white spots – not really chips but spots that are white and look like the color and sealer might have come right off. Can we add some of the powdered color to sealer and apply over these areas? The rest of the comcrete is still colored although very faded so sealing the whole thing with the powdered color would be great – can this be done and what do you recommend?
No this should not be done this way. Without knowing what is causing the white spots it is hard to know the proper way to fix. Try wiping on xylene solvent to the spots and see if they go away.
We have a large stamped (Grey) concrete area around our pool and summer kitchen. We have been in the house for 15 years and the color looks dull and worn from the constant Sun exposure (we live in Florida). I am told that resealing will reinvigorate the color and seal at the the same time? What process should I employ for preparation before sealing? Which sealer product do need? How many coats. Also, I do not want it to be slippery as it is near the pool.

Need to strip sealant off of stamped concrete. It is stamped like brick and the sealant we put on turned white on some of the top and sides. What product is the best for this.
Linda, we use a Concrete Sealer Stripper made by Clemons Concrete Coatings that works very well. Apply and pressure wash off.

I have a patio that was poured last year. Live in New England where weather is brutal. After the snow melts I notice there are spots on the concrete where the sealer has flaked off. Of course the spots are lighter than the actual patio so it doesn't look good. When the patio is wet from rain you can't notice the spots at all only when it's dry. Brian, has the sealer discolored or turned white? If not then resealing with another solvent acrylic might fix the issue.

Looks like your concrete is spalling/pitting. Not good. Try to contact the installer if you can.
I am preparing to apply another coat of sealant. I have had occasions in the past where bubbles appeared hours after an application. I assume that air was trapped under the coating….any suggestions.

I have been tasked by my church to seal a baptismal font. This font had been previously located inside the church …… it is now located outside (south Georgia). It has a pinkish/tannish color to it and appears to be made from concrete. As it is outside, I think it needs to be sealed. I would appreciate any direction on a choice of sealant (brand) as well as direction on the preparation of the surface prior to sealing. Should the sealing be done annually? You could try a penetrating sealer such as Masonry Saver Heavy Duty or SuperSeal-M. I would suggest contacting the manufacturers of these two brands to confirm it will work correctly though as we do not have any experience with a baptismal font.
I have Super Seal 30 for my patio stamped concrete. I notice that Super Seal 30 requires just one coat. But I am concerned about adding a non slip additive to it. Normally you need two coats for a non slip additive. I'd like to know your thoughts. Thanks.
Kevinbh, for the grip to work correctly the sealer needs to film on the surface so the grip can reside in the coating. If you apply one coat of the SS30 it may soak in deeply resulting in the grip not being able to work. I believe it would dry on to like a dust. That is why you would need to coats.
I would like to point out that the Super Seal lid is very difficult to open. There is a plastic tab which i pulled off. There wasn't a typical screw lid which one would expect when buying something this expensive. I don't want to pry open the entire can when i'm still testing it out. I've never encountered such an unusual lid opening. Based on this alone, I would not recommend this product. Go find one that has a screw off, metal lid and you will be much more satisfied.
kevinbh, I assume you are talking about the 5 gallon pail? There is a spout with a pull tab and a black \”screw\” closure on the spout. This is a normal lid opening for most 5 gallon pails. There is no such thing as a \”screw lid\” for the entire opening of a metal 5 gallon pail.
What type of non-glossy oil based concrete sealer works well for vertical textured concrete?
(As retailers vary state to state it might be better for me to source it on a weekend from a bigger box retailer.)

Tom, there is not any \”oil\” based concrete coatings that I know of. They are either solvent or water based.
Hello, I have a question on a colored, stamped concrete pool deck. The concrete is about 2yrs. old. I resealed the concrete with superseal 25 w/sure grip additive in May of 2013. The wet look was AWESOME when I was done. I put it on relatively thick 1/2" nap roller. Now the concrete looks faded, almost as bad as before sealing it. My pool water is salt water, (not sure if that makes a difference). Soctt in MN, the sealer does not go anywhere but it may have faded from the water and sun uv. I would try restoring the shine by adding a solvent next Spring. This will make it new looking. Try xylene or lacquer thinner for this. Just lightly spray on with a garden type pump sprayer. This will extend the sealer\’s nice look longer. Reseal every 2 years.

It has not been resealed since (shame on me!). I do not know if the first application was water or solvent based. Greg, penetrating sealers do not work on stamped concrete. Nothing stops or controls efflorescence. Try the Masonry Saver Decorative Concrete Sealer for this.
I just recently put in a stamped/colored concrete patio about a week ago and am looking to seal it with the best product. I live in Utah where the tempetures range from extreme hot to extreme cold. I would like to protect the new surface from cracking and wear (as much as possible), as well as from the elements. Would the SuperSeal 25 or 30 be the best option?

I just found your site and wished I would have read these reviews a week ago. We used valspar concrete high gloss sealer and this morning it left white streaks or "puddles" where apparently my husband applied too thick. Can you offer any advise on how to fix this?? Thank you in advance.
Dakri, I would ask Valspar as I am not familiar with their sealer. Xylene might work to remove the white areas.
Have a stamped driveway that looks like stone. It was getting lots of mold on it from overhanging trees. I had a guy come pressure wash it and now that is no dark coloration which makes it look un-natural. It just looks like stamped cement now. Will putting sealer on this make it look like stone again?
Jason, put a wet look sealer on it will darken the appearance as if wet with water.
My 1000 sq ft patio is coloured concrete, brushed finish. It was poured 2 years ago, never sealed. It is exposed to the winter snow and summer sun. Best to seal, at this point, or not?

I have a stamped concrete porch and sidewalk. It has been sealed (with powdered stained mixed in sealant) three times. The last time it was treated was two years ago. The stained has faded unevenly and there are areas where it has just worn off. What should I do to restore the beauty of my porch and sidewalk? Luis, hard to say if it will adhere. Most likely the solvent will if it has been a couple of years. Some sites offer samples so you might want to test first.

The company power washed the patio, dried it with a leave blower then waited about an hour and sealed it. They then waited 20 minutes and applied a second coat. I am going to acid stain a 1000 sq ft art studio. There might be occasional spills of mineral spirits, acetone, or paints. There will also be equipment/furniture moved on rollers occasionally. What would you recommend for the highest gloss, lowest maintenance, and most scratch resistant top coat? The slab is new. How many coats would you suggest and how often must I reapply?
Laura, I would look at the Masonry Saver Decorative Concrete Sealer. Many people when working on inside flooring will seal first then maintain with a wax periodically to maintain the look and appearance instead of resealing. It is easier.
have stamped concrete around pool. Sealed for first 2 years but was very slippery even though I added grit (pattern is similar to a natural rock with high and low spots). Any suggestions ? I would like to seal again as it is starting to look a little "shaggy"

I live in Illinois. I want to reseal my 8 year old flagstone stamped concrete patio (no pool). Do you recommend mixing any other product with a Superseal 25? Such as a Shark grip or would you recommend another seal that alone would suffice for the job?

Matt, you do not need a grip. I would use the SuperSeal25 for this.
I am resealing my stamped concrete driveway but don't want it to be slippery when it is wet (kids ride bikes on it). Is the SuperSeal 25 non-slippery when wet. My wife also doesn't really want a glossy look, is SuperSeal25 a high gloss product?

Eric, SuperSeal25 has a semi-gloss shine. It is not typically slippery but if you have a buildup of coatings it can become slippery. Might want to look at adding some grip into the sealer for traction. SuperSeal also makes a matte shine.
We live in Utah and have a new patio of colored and stamped concrete. Winters can be somewhat harsh. A portion of it has already been sealed we would like to finish the entire patio and path way but we are not sure what was used on the small portion already done. It is glossy and looks wet we would like it to match the rest of the area.

I am lookimg to acid stain my outdoor patio and then seal it. Would an epoxy other acrylic sealer hold up better to harsh Wisconsin winters?
I like acrylic better as they are easier to reapply down the road.

My husband would like a gloss look and something that enhances the color as it looks darker after the rain, but it is imperative that we add in some kind of grit as to prevent children/adults from slipping once water begins to accumulate in certain spots. Gearing up to reveal a stamped concrete pato, but am not happy with some places where planters sat. The color is very faded on those places and I was wondering how I can make these faded areas nearer to the original color before sealing.

Concerned – purchased Super Seal 25 non-yellowing for stamped concrete painted pavers, 24X24 sections for a garden patio.. Applying it to the finished garden patio. I have read that it is not a VOC compliant product in some states so I read the MSDS further that said it has a chemical Naphthalene in trace amounts in it, that may cause cancer, no confirmed studies yet. concern- looking to seal stamped concrete around pool… you recommend WITH styrene product… but am wary as had read that this will cause yellowing… any thoughts??
Lori, you would want a sealer that contains a non-yellowing additive. You can get this in styrene acrylics. The SuperSeal products all contain this.
I recently had my patio stained and sealed (about a month ago and not sure type of sealer used). There is a white haze that seems to wipe off but come back as soon as it dries. There are swirl marks that appear wherever I clean. In other words, its not embedded into the seal. My questions are…what do you suggest to clean it off? What type of sealer is suggested for patio that is moderately exposed to sunlight? Do any of those products give the concrete a nice shine/ shimmer?

Alex, I do not think it can be cleaned off it sounds to me that it is imbedded and becomes noticeable when wet with water?
That happen to our stamped concrete patio. I hate to tell you this but it is moisture that is being trapped between the concrete and the sealer. The installer used the wrong type of sealer and the moisture became trapped. If I washed it it seemed to come off but then it returned . It just kept getting worse and worse. One company sold us a product to try to help open the pores of the sealer to alow the moisture to get out but it didn't work. I,m pouring a foundation for a house in northern New Mexico Mtn area . This area has a lot of snow and low temp in winter. I will need to have foundations exposed to the winter element will not have time to frame and enclosed foundation through the Winter. What is the best Sealer to protect the foundation from winter exposer. Until it get covered with house.
