2024 Super Seal 25 Concrete Sealer Review

As of 2025, we have found that the Super Seal 25 Semi-gloss is one of the most popular sealers for Stamped Concrete, Brick Pavers, and other Decorative Concrete Surfaces. I have used this sealer on hundreds of projects yearly for the last 25 years. If you have any questions about the Super Seal 25 product, please ask me below in our Q&A area. I am here to help!

Super Seal 25 Concrete Sealer Review

Super Seal 25 Concrete Sealer Review

SuperSeal25 is a Semi-Gloss Concrete Sealer for Brick Paver Patios, Exposed Aggregate, and Stamped Concrete. It darkens the appearance and leaves a shine similar to a semi-gloss.

The SuperSeal25 is a 25% solid solvent-based, breathable acrylic sealer and curing compound suitable for use on interior and exterior concrete surfaces.

SuperSeal25 Paver and Concrete Sealer Ratings (1-10)

Wet Look: 10

SuperSeal25 darkened the paver driveway very well, giving the surface a much-needed enhanced look. All the pavers’ colors stood out, restoring the original look.

Gloss Level: 8

SuperSeal25 contains 25% solids, which leaves our driveway with a semi-gloss shine. The sealer dried in a few hours, and we were able to drive on the surface the next day.

Joint Sand Hardening: 8

SuperSeal25 is thinner in consistency than the 30 version. This allows the sealer to penetrate the joint sand better, but still not as well as a water-based paver sealer.

Fading/Wearing After 2 Years: 7

At the 2-year mark, I noticed that the sealer had lost about 30% of its original look. A light cleaning to remove the dirt and grime spruced up the appearance. No peeling was evident.

White Haze/Yellowing: 10

– There was no visible white hazing or yellowing of the sealer after 2 years.

My Overall Score SuperSeal25 at 2-Year Period: 8.4

– SuperSeal25 is a perfect economical sealer. It enhances, leaves a nice shine, and does not discolor when appropriately applied. We noticed the sealer did not leave hot tire marks on the driveway after 2 years.

If you want a quality sealer that is easy to maintain, then SuperSeal25 would be a top choice.

Best Sealer (Travertine or other Natural Stone) Two and a half years ago we applied the SuperSeal25 and it lasted 2 years when we wanted it freshened up and applied a lower cost seal from Lowes sold as one of the best. Less than 7 months it has severely yellowed/orange in the Florida sun. We are now removing that seal and applied SuperSeal25 once again and it is beautiful. I have natural large gray stone backsplash in the kitchen behind the stove and I applied it with a brush and it looks amazing. It brought out the natural hues of… Read more »

Once sealed, my brick paver patio smells up the house and neighbors’ yards for about a week. Would an industrial size (3’ diameter) fan dissipate the odor more quickly?

My brick paver driveway was sealed 4 years ago with Seal n Lock by a professional contractor. I will be applying SS25 this time by myself with the Chaplin 1949. I have a few questions:
1. How do I best prep the surface prior to applying SS25?
2. Is applying sand in the joints required? Is the process brush in the sand and then hose off to get the sand 1/4″ below the surface?
3. Is one coat sufficient? Should I spray and then back roll as I go?

Michael

Thanks for the reply. I do have some light white towards the bottom end (driveway has a slight grade) of the driveway. What should I use to strip and what is that process?

Also, my Chaplin 1949 just arrived and it came with the .5 gpm nozzle, is this the preferred nozzle? I’m trying to figure out how to best gauge the application rate of 100 sq ft per gallon. I have a 1600 sq ft driveway.

You can see it’s light white towards the bottom of the driveway. A water-based solvent (Seal n’ Lock) was used 4 years ago. I also think I may use SB-600 because of the wet with no glossy look. Thoughts on prep?

The company I acquired Super Sealer 25 told me to back roll. The person who did the work also said backroll was best. Why the contradiction?

Hi, last time I sealed my stamped concrete I rolled it and hated the process. I just purchased a 1949 sprayer, what is the coverage spraying it? I want to do 2 coats and have about 500 to 600 sf. Also, can anti-slip be added and sprayed through the sprayer? I see people say they do it, just want to make sure it will with SuperSeal 25.

Thanks

Thank you, so 5 gallons should get me 1 coat. I guess my question wasn’t clear, I was asking if you can spray the sealer with the anti slip mixed in using a 1949 sprayer or does it clog.

A professional used this product on my patio about 3 years ago. The results were great. We have some left over. I will need another 5 gallon can to do the whole patio. Can I use the remaining product that has been in the can unopened for 3 years since it was applied? Should I do anything special to prepare the surface or just power wash with a home power washer – 1500 psi

Super Seal 25 does yellow.
I cleaned my patio and sidewalk with xylene and then applied super seal 25 last year and it looked great for the summer, now its yellow and hazing. Not sure how to fix it

Dave
Dave

I should have said I applied Xylene to release any moisture that may have been under the previous sealer Euclid Diamond Sealer but that was at least 3 years ago. The SS25 was the first time in 3 years I applied sealer. I kept hitting it with Xylene to break the seal and release any moisture and avoid build up. It looked great only for the season. I will post a picture.

Will a home pressure washer sufficiently remove a water-based sealer from Unilock stone pavers? Any solvents/detergents needed to wash? I sealed it a year ago but is faded, yet still passes a porosity test. Will that adequately prep the patio surface for a SuperSeal 25 application?

Only the color faded a bit. The sealer did not turn white at all; it’s still partially sealed. Also, to verify this product works well on stone pavers?

I have cool decking stain decorative concrete driveway, garage ,and back deck pool area. What industrial sealer would you apply for at least 2 year+ without any wear. Live Arizona so 120 degree in Summer. Also, do not want hot tire problems (which is the main reason for doing sealer). Wet look. or semi gloss. Now I could use one kind for garages and driveway and another for pool area, do not want to have slipping problems when wet especially around pool area. Would like to get order Monday so I can apply before mother’s day.i have 2700 sq feet… Read more »

Thanks for the reply, tried again and pumped it real high and it still barely squirted , certainly not close to a spray, used the cleaner to clear the tank and it sprayed just fine, this SS25 does NOT spray thru this 109 dollar sprayer, I just wasted my money, but again, can I thin the SS25 with anything? I had to use the roller on about 250 sf side patio, looks good, but a lot of work for an 82 year old man. Still have about 500 sf to do, not looking fwd to that.

I have 20 year old aggregate concrete parking pad and driveway. I recently filled cracks and joints with Master Seal SL1 self -leveling polyurethane sealant. My neighborhood association is always requesting we clean our sidewalk (city owned) and brick driveway. If I sealed both, would this help cut down on the dirty look from fungus or mildew accumulation? Here in Florida everything stays damp until afternoon and my sidewalk and driveway are on the North side of the house.

I'm in Florida and liking to use Super Seal 25. The existing pavers are about 2 years old and I really don't want to backfire with poly sand now but would like to in the future after I place the Super 25 ( 2 years down the line) and then reapply. My reasoning is to avoid Amy chance of poly haze … will this cause issues ?

Secondly can you explain why these products would be better than something found in Home Depot like Eagle or Diamond ?

Can his product be used for professional comtractor use ?

I had a company seal my brick pavers with Superseal 25. The odor is caustic and is STILL lingering after two months! It gets into my house sometimes and is just nasty. The contractor claims it shouldn't have any odor after a week or so but that clearly isn't the case. Any advice?

I have an exposed, dyed aggregate driveway, steps and multiple walkways that are 8 years old. I have sealed all of the concrete 4 times over their life with SuperSeal 25. I have stripped the sealer off once, after the first sealing that I did with SS30 and had slipping issues….I really don't want to do that again! Hi,
We just bough a house. We have over 15 years old patio pavers (red and gray) both on back yard and driveway. I just did power wash them. They look much better but I realized there are are many gaps between the many pavers. I am thinking to add regular sand (any brand suggestions ?) and then use joint stabilizer sealer. I am hard working but not skillful. What do you recommend for the sealer (and sand)?
I like to have wet look to bring some color back on sun faded pavers. But it is not a must.
Thans in advance!

Hi! I had my paved driveway sealed with the SS25 after applying polymeric sand in between the joints. As the untreated pavers were several years old, I believe some of the sand had been trapped on the top surface as the entire driveway is now covered in a white haze. Any idea what needs to be done to get rid of this haze ? I am not too sure if this is due to trapped moisture or actual poly haze. I tried scrubbing them with an efflorescence cleaner, white vinegar mix, and a diluted hyrdo acid mix but no luck.… Read more »

What is the shelf life of SuperSeal 25? I bought a couple 5 gallon containers a few weeks ago but haven't gotten around to applying it yet. At this point, I'm thinking I'll just wait until next spring to apply to get the most use out of it (I live in a cold winter climate). The containers are still completely sealed and have not been opened. Should it be OK that I wait about 9-10 months since purchasing to apply? I.e. It won't negatively affect the product if I wait that long will it?

Thanks,
Kyle

Hello!
I just had a new paver patio installed. My contractor put sealer on it on top of efflorescence. She then tried to remove the sealer and efflorescence with a sealer remover and a high pressure washer, exposing the aggregate on a few of the pavers. Wouldn't you know it was the 21" x 21" pavers. I'm wondering if I should use two different sealers on the patio now. One for exposed aggregate and one for the concrete pavers with the finish still intact. If so, which sealers would you recommend for each?
Thank you in advance for your responses..

Would the Superseal 25 make my stamped concrete slippery if it got wet? If so, which additive would you recommend to help add grip? Would I still only need one coat, or because of the additive would I need to apply two coats (presuming the additive would go in the final coat)?

Thank you,
Kyle

I have a 1.5 year old patio and walkway with belgard pavers, about 100 square feet. I plan on using Super Seal 25. I do have some Efflorescence showing on the top but not bad. Is it required to remove these before applying the sealer? Also I am looking for wet look with grout sealing would you recommend Super Seal 25 or 30. I understand 30 must be sprayed on vice rolled.

Thinking about reusing existing red/grey pavers for new pool installation. They are quite faded. Would like to restore the color and like the idea of wet look, however concernerd with making the surface slippery. How well do the no slip additives work and do they wear off? Any restrictions in NJ? Thanks!

Not sure what to use for our newly poured exposed aggregate patio. We live in Washington state, in the rainy area of the state. I want it to look wet, but not really glossy ….. mostly just darker and a little shine. I also would like to know if whatever you recommend can be purchased locally. I am finding that a lot of the products recommended on here are mail order, and the shipping is about as much as the product is! Thanks!

Some areas used as vehicle parking (Hot and dry in Summer) and the rest is walkways and Patio Area, Patio Area is susceptible to moss growth. Hi- I live in south Wisconsin and am looking at this product for my outdoor poured concrete/colored patio. I thought this looked great, but read a SuperSeal30 comment about trouble with 'broomed finished concrete'. Googleing it i would say 90% sure that's what i have. I applied Super Seal 25 to my front porch and entrance walk. Unfortunately, I live in FL and it rained (freak shower) about 4 hours after applying the sealer. Portions of the sealer are cloudy. (the portions are mainly where the water was beading over night) I am assuming that moisture became trapped under the sealer. Will rolling the pavers with xylene allow for the moisture to escape?

. What State do you live in? New York

2. Interior or Exterior concrete surface? Exterior

3. Vertical or Horizontal application? Horizontal

4. Change or enhance appearance (gloss or wet look) or no change of appearance? No preference, just wants to protect the concrete surface.

5. Type of surface : Plain concrete driveway, brushed surface

We treated the driveway last summer with 2 coats of Stone Technologies X-1 penetrating sealer. Should we apply a film-forming sealer for added protection, and if so, what kind?
